Meetings

Meetings are a highly important aspect of the Goffstown Police Explorers' training agenda. Explorers meet on a bi-weekly basis to continually sharpen their law enforcement skills. These regular meetings instill a strong sense of devotion in explorers that remains with them throughout their future careers.

Each meeting is divided into two portions of training; one part of the meeting is comprised of academic instruction by veteran police officers and the other part is devoted to hands-on practical training.

Training topics include:

  • Motor Vehicle Stops
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Self-Defense
  • Firearms
  • Physical Training
  • Use of Force
  • Bicycle Patrol
  • K-9 Unit
  • Building Searches
  • Hostage Negotiation
  • Marching
  • Community Policing
  • DWI Enforcement

All of these training topics prepare explorers for a career in the law enforcement field. Explorers are even given the opportunity to test their skills by attending explorer conventions and competitions, such as the University of Exploring, the Explorer Challenge Weekend, and the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference.
